Core concepts

Designed for Privacy

GDPR - the General Data Protection Regulation - is a set of EU regulation that besides quite a few other rules stresses that digital products/services should be designed for privacy from the ground up. Mortimer is!

One Profiling Vector - your email address

You are requested to use an email address when you sign up/in - but we do not validate the email address against any source. So you could setup a burner email address or use a feature like the 'hide my email address' offered by Apple.

Please notice!

If you plan on using Mortimer on a 'cloud' plan please understand that we need you to provide an email address that we will be able to reach you by in order to email you when your subscription is about to renew/terminate.

Mortimer persists an identity that holds this email address and current/open sessions but no data attributes that is able to profile you should you decide to not disclose your 'own' email address.

Used within an organization - your business - further understand that the invites you forward to members of your organization will use the email addresses you provide! Again, we will not be able to provide an invite for members/users to accept without an email address, but if each member hands out a burner email address and you use that for the invite then no profiling what so ever will be possible!

Burner Email Address (BEA)

We have mentioned BEA a couple of times. What is it?

BEA is an email address that you do not use for anything except perhaps this one purpose. You could set up a BEA with services like Google Mail - but for your convenience we have a service too. It is called https://bea.something. You can 'only' access it via your browser and it will only accept messages for Mortimer. That service does no profiling neither!
